COMMITEE MEMBER

-

Hini (they/them) hails from New Zealand, they're an indigenous Maori, queer non-binary person who has lived in Australia since 2006.

They're a hospitality professional and creative event producer who's adding their weight to the death positive/ literacy movement. Recently they celebrated the legal changing of their name to a decolonised and gender affirming title.  The event was marked with a funeral service for the old name and they continue to encourage their peers to celebrate their own milestones whatever that may look like.

Hini is currently working with Phillip and Bronwyn Aspinall at Candlepines Undertakers in Williamstown as a funeral assistant.

Through facilitation of Queer specific death cafes Hini seeks to identify core issues LGBTIQA+ community may encounter at end of life in order to direct their advocacy work.
