Nikki Morrison
Co-Opt Position
My work in healthcare began as a Personal Carer in a Residence dedicated to supporting people living with Huntington’s Disease.
From this beginning, I followed in my beloved mum’s footsteps, and completed my training to become a Registered Nurse.
My Nursing passion has always been Oncology. During my Nursing career, I have had the honour of journeying with many individuals and families across the entire Cancer trajectory, from initial diagnosis through to providing Bereavement support.
Along the way, I have been so fortunate to undertake studies which have inspired and nurtured my dedication to the end-of-life space. Indeed, studies in Bereavement Counselling, End of Life Doula Training, Palliative Care, Certified Grief Education and Funeral Celebrancy continue to shape my approach to my current role in hospital-based Pastoral Care.
As a Pastoral Carer, I am privileged to meet with individuals and families who are often facing the myriad questions and unknowns of end-of-life. In this role, I remain deeply committed to providing the time and space for each person to have the conversations they may feel they cannot have with anyone else. This sentiment remains central in my work supporting individuals through their Voluntary Assisted Dying process.
